Valorant, as a game, hasn’t really existed that long but it’s already one of the biggest FPS games out there. Now, Riot Games may finally take the game a step further by integrating controller support.
Valorant is one of the few FPS games that still hasn’t allowed controller support. Understandably, it’s because the game is still relatively new. But controller support may come at last to the FPS game if this new leak is to be believed.
A Twitter user known for leaking Valorant related information had recently claimed that controller support is soon coming. The leaker shared an image of a series of codes that point to controller support.
It doesn’t take a genius to connect the words “Right Analog Deadzone,” “Right Analog Sensitivity X,” and “Right Analog Sensitivity Y” to controllers.
Unfortunately, this evidence is still not conclusive and people should take it with a grain of salt. There is no doubt that controller support is coming to Riot‘s popular FPS game. But the question is whether or not it will come soon.
The fact that Valorant does allow controller support for the spectator mode makes the likelihood of this leak pretty low. The codes could just be referring to the already existing controller support in spectator mode.
There is no doubt that keyboard and mouse users will reign supreme in FPS games like Valorant and Call of Duty: Warzone. But there is an ever-increasing number of people who prefer to use controllers when playing. Obviously, when people are given a choice, they start comparing. Because of this, the long-standing question of which input is better has remained unanswered.
When playing FPS games, many prefer mouse and keyboard over controllers. This is because the mouse makes it easier for players to aim and keyboards make it easier to issue commands. But over the years, games have made leaps and bound when it comes to controller support.
Besides the comfort and portability of controllers, they now also come with many perks. For one, analog joysticks and pressure-sensitive inputs provide steadier and smoother movements.
But in the end, it all comes down to preference. Players do get the freedom of choice. In the topic of keyboard and mouse versus controller, there is no clear winner.
What games like Valorant can only do is to cater to their players’ input needs as much as they could.
