Dota 2 Fall Season has started, and Valve gives an update on the game’s future. This includes changes to Dota Plus and the upcoming heroes.
Valve released a blog post detailing the changes to Dota Plus and the Dota 2 Guilds. But the most exciting part of the Fall Season is the Autumnal Treasure 2020.
According to the blog post, Dota Plus members can purchase the treasure chests via shards. There are a total of 12 different sets to unlock.
It includes sets for Leshrac, Nyx Assassin, medusa, Weaver, Vengeful Spirit, Clockwerk, Faceless Void, Sven, Doom, Axe, Tusk, and Crystal Maiden. And as a bonus, there are courier skins available as well.
Valve breaks community silence
Moving on, Valve expressed its desire to be more vocal about what is in the works. The company explained that there is a reason for its silence when it comes to updates.
“There are a variety of reasons we don’t tend to get into those things until something is ready to release because sometimes plans change or an idea doesn’t develop into something solid,” Valve stated.
However, Valve mentioned that the company had recognized the need to communicate with the community.
Now, the company is giving insight into what is coming in the next few weeks, starting with the new hero.
New Dota 2 hero coming soon
The game often releases a new hero every November. Valve usually announces the hero gets during The International and goes official in a month or two. However, the pandemic has caused the tournament’s delay.
That being said, Valve targets November for the hero release. There are no details on the upcoming hero yet. But, the company mentioned a new one would arrive in the first quarter of 2021.
“We’ve been thinking about trying an overall development approach of spreading out updates during the year, rather than only having most content and updates centered around The International,” said Valve.
Valve is on its way to fixing Dota 2 toxicity as well. This includes booster account bans. A new behavior system is also on its way.
