After showcasing a slew of third-party games inbound for the Xbox Series X, the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is confirmed to be in the works and will be playable in both current and next-gen consoles via the Smart Delivery, along with other surprises.

Smart Delivery is Microsoft’s latest initiative about making games playable in both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X under a single purchase.

The news about Bloodlines 2 coming to consoles is nothing new, however. Originally planned for a Q1 2020 release, publisher Paradox Interactive subsequently announced of the game’s delay for later this year. There have not been many footages surrounding the game since.

Seeing the trailer only amplifies the fact that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is indeed coming.

Adding confirmation to the game’s eventual release this year, Bloodlines 2 is already taking preorders that comes with certain bonuses. Aside from the exclusive soundtrack, the bonuses come in a form of unique aesthetics, specifically weapons skins and a costume.

Learning from Past Mistake

In a dev blog post published last October 16, 2019, Andy Kipling and Brian Mitsoda spoke for the team about the setback.

As it appears, the postponement comes from the decision to further improve the game. The blog even discussed on how the developers intend to enrich the game with contents and layout its design.

The decision to opt for delay and create a high-quality product, however, is not without its precedent. Which is also something that the blog openly talked about, involving the first game. The same game that had a bad reception for having been release ‘too soon,’ citing issues inherent with the outcome.

Without looking at the trailer, it is already telling what people can expect from Bloodlines 2. Unsurprisingly, vampires, blood, and general violence are the main themes of the game. But the trailer is undeniably amazing not to see.

A Promising ‘Vampire’ Game

To the uninitiated, Bloodlines 2 is a sequel to the original Bloodlines, based on the tabletop RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade.

Popular culture has a way of displaying vampires for villains, with the exception of a few that does not. In Bloodlines 2, the notion is not any different.

Like the first Bloodlines game, this sequel shares a similar start with a premise of a protagonist being an unwilling vampire victim. Essentially a vampire yourself, the game revolves around the world of both the living and the undead.

While not necessarily related, fans of Bethesda’s Bioshock and Dishonored will find something similar to Bloodlines 2 in gameplay. Aside from a smooth melee combat, the game also seems to feature uncanny skills, reminiscent in both the aforementioned games.
