Verizon’s ‘Wild Rift’ Invitational: What we know so far

Share

The mobile port of League of Legends, Wild Rift, is set to take its first-ever eSports event. Here’s what we know so far.

Riot Games saw success in its publicized beta phase in Valorant. Partnerships formed through eSports events even before the game launched globally. It appears that Riot will replicate that success with its League of Legends: Wild Rift.

The mobile version of LoL is set to open its regional open beta on October 23. On the same day, Verizon will host an eSports invitational, featuring the immense mobile gaming capacity of the iPhone 12 5G.

The first-ever Wild Rift eSports event

Mobile gaming has proven to be the latest revolution in the industry, including in the eSports arena.

The gaming community saw immense success in Moonton’s Mobile Legends, and the current Call of Duty: Mobile World Champion. Riot, being the creator of one of the classic games in the eSports scene, is set to contribute to the mobile gaming revolution.

That said, the first Wild Rift Invitational presented by Verizon is happening on October 22 at 9:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM PT. Avid fans and game enthusiasts can watch the event on Twitch via the Twitch Rivals channel and on Verizon’s Twitter page.

Now this will be the first the United States will get a full look at the Wild Rift gameplay since the game is not available in the western region yet. The first U.S. preview of the game was during Apple’s unveiling event of the iPhone 12.

Originally, the beta testing in the Americas is still set for Spring next year. There’s no news yet, however, how this event will change Riot’s calendar.

A star-studded event

Per Dot Esports, 10 famous people ranging from pro-players to influencers to actors will participate in the invitational.

They are:

  • William “Meteos” Hartman – He was 100 Thieves’ jungler for League.
  • Nate Hill – He’s a famed Fortnite player from FaZe clan.
  • Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black – A pro-League player from Dignitas.
  • Gabriella “LeTigress” Devia-Allen – A renowned eSports commentator. She hosts the LCS’ Friday Night League.
  • Emmalee “EMUHLEET” Garrido – Captain of Dignitas Female’s Valorant and CS: GO
