‘VISA Bitcoin’ – it’s a concept that could one day become reality according to VISA Inc. CEO Alfred Kelly.
In an ‘if you cannot beat them, join them’ approach, Kelly has reveled the world’s biggest card payments company would have no problem adopting cryptocurrencies if demand emerges.
“I think that if we actually think that crypto starts moving from being more of a commodity to actually really being a payment instrument, and I think there has to be some market that it becomes somewhat like a fiat currency, in order for us to be comfortable,” he told CNBC’s Jim Kramer.
“If it goes in that direction, we will move in that direction.
“We want to be in the middle, Jim, of every payment form in the world and regardless of how it happens or what the currency is behind it, so if we have to go there we will go there.”
He doesn’t however believe that will occur in the ‘short to medium term’.
