The Vivo S7 5G also features a sophisticated rear camera setup, one that is set to shake things up in its class.
In 2020, standing out in a sea of top-tier, flamboyant smartphones is already a feat in itself. A feat that is rarely afforded nowadays.
Thankfully, the newly-unveiled Vivo S7 5G is an exception to this.
Vivo has just announced the S7 5G, another entry in its now-expansive mid-range portfolio.
Vivo S7 5G: A standout from the crowd
The highlight of the show is, without a doubt, its camera offerings. On its rear, the smartphone features a triple-camera setup, housed in a minimalist rectangular module. An enormous 64-megapixel wide camera headlines the setup with an f/1.9 aperture.
The Vivo S7 5G’s camera prowess didn’t stop there. Accompanying the phone’s primary rear camera is an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP depth lens. On the front, the phone has managed to equip its display notch with a dual-camera system, front-lined by a large 44MP wide snapper. Its auxiliary sensor is an 8MP ultrawide lens.
6.44-inch AMOLED with HDR support
Second, to its camera offerings, the next highlight can be found in the display department. The device features a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Its display also boasts HDR support, alongside a 98.5% NTSC color coverage and an embedded fingerprint scanner.
Still, it escapes logic as to why Vivo opted not to equip its display with a high refresh rate. As it is, users will have to settle with its conventional 60Hz provision.
Snapdragon 765G chip with 4,000mAh battery
Powering the Vivo S7 5G is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chip, which features Adreno 620 GPU. The phone also packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The latter is not expandable.
Also, a mystery in this device is its underwhelming 4,000mAh battery. While more than enough for most modern users, this listing leaves much to be desired by some.
Other key features of the device include Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB Type-C. Although the phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack, its inclusion of Hi-Res Audio should more than suffice when audiophiles take heed of a USB-C-enabled headset.
The Vivo S7 5G is priced at CNY 2,800 for its base 8GB/128GB variant, while the 8GB/256GB version retails for CNY 3,100. The first units of the phone are slated to ship on August 8.
The Vivo S7 5G retails in three color variants – Black, White, Gradient Blue (Monet edition). Vivo could also be launching its Y70 smartphone soon.
