Chinese smartphone giant, Vivo, is in the works to replace its original Funtouch OS with the new Origin OS.
Vivo announced the Funtouch OS 10 with the launch of X30 last year but could not provide the update to other Vivo phones due to the pandemic.
Before Origin OS, the brand also had plans to shift to Jovi OS; but the project was abandoned midway.
Origin OS is an in-house project and might be available for public beta testing by the end of 2020. Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station claims that the Origin OS would significantly develop over the Funtouch OS.

New beginnings for Vivo
According to a report by Telecom Talk, Origin OS stands for “original OS.” Much like the previous generation’s Funtouch OS, Origin OS would also be skin over most probably Android’s latest version.
Vivo had released the V20 in India last month, shipped with Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 11. According to Digital Chat Station, the Origin OS would be among the first echelon of Android customized UI.
Major announcements
Recently, Vivo has not confirmed any rumors about Origin OS, but the announcement would most likely be made between November and December of 2020.
There are not many details about the skin, but it would most likely be much cleaner and smoother to use.
As for Funtouch OS, Vivo has been providing stable Android 11 updates for the skin, so it would be strange if it were to be discontinued so abruptly.
There are high chances that the first smartphone to receive the Origin OS would be the X60.
Vivo X60 and X60s
According to a report by GSM Arena, several Vivo retail stores have already put up promotional material for the X60.
It would be safe to assume that the X60 series would launch before the year ends and would most probably launch with the new custom UI.
The phones are described as “professional imaging flagship,” which would hint at a good camera performance coupled with a unique camera feature.
There are rumors about the X60 series, stating that the phones will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, as found in the OnePlus Nord.
The Snapdragon 765G chipset would mean that the Vivo X60 series would have support for 5G connectivity. Sources believe that the X60 series would also have support for 33W fast charging.
