Vivo’s official Chinese site also teases the upcoming phone, Vivo X50 5G, as a “professional imaging flagship.”
Vivo has not only confirmed the existence of the X50 smartphone but also announced that the device will finally be launching on June 1.
A high profile camera phone
The company announcement comes with a teaser video, which revealed that the Vivo X50 5G is marketed as a “professional imaging flagship.” It revealed that the phone’s primary rear camera is set to feature an optical image stabilization (OIS). The firm dubs it as the “gimbal” camera system.
Vivo claimed that the groundbreaking camera system should extend the stabilization angle by 200 percent. The camera feature can provide significantly less blurred images and videos in the process. If this pans out, this should give the phone a headline-grabbing feature at the time of its launch.
Note that the micro gimbal camera module already launched with the Vivo Apex 2020 concept phone, which was unveiled in February 2020.
Punch-hole display with quad-rear cam setup
While the phone’s key specifications aren’t revealed yet, the X50 5G phone’s purported display and design got leaked through promotional material. The phone features a hole-punch screen, which is placed on the upper-left section of the display. The Vivo X50 5G could also debut with a quadruple-camera setup on its rear.
The Vivo X50 5G’s poster also hinted at a possibility that the phone could feature a periscope telephoto camera. This is suggested by the presence of a squared lens, which is a common feature of the advanced telephoto module.
The blue color variant of the phone was also teased. Likewise, the back of the device is also shown to be featuring a glossy, glass-backed rear panel.
The retail box
The retail box of the Vivo X50 5G also surfaces in the wild. While the information on the box isn’t significant, it is speculated that the phone could be a successor to the Vivo X30 or Vivo X30 Pro. As its moniker suggests, the handset should also feature 5G connectivity.
The phone also appears to be the more top-tier edition among the three, which could undoubtedly debut with proper flagship internals.
Vivo also announced the X50 Lite variant recently. The scaled-down edition of the series features an AMOLED display, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 chip in tow.
The Vivo X50 5G is set to launch first in China.
