Just a matter of hours since WandaVision has been out, it has already garnered Rotten Tomatoes’ highest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe property.
The debut of the Marvel Studios series, WandaVision, garnered a 95% Fresh rating on the review aggregator earlier this week.
Now, aside from being Certified Fresh, the Disney+ show’s rating has been bumped up to 97% Fresh.
With the new score of the series, the series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany has now slightly edged out Black Panther as the highest-rated MCU project to grace the site.
Previously, a 96% Fresh rating for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther has been recorded on the site.
“WandaVision” earning more positive reviews
Only eight out of the 126 reviews filed by professional critics have been deemed “Rotten.”
RogerEbert.com’s Roxana Hadadi is one of the eight who said that the series recycles “the same content in each episode.”
As said by Hadadi, it becomes difficult to ignore the fact that rather than propelling its story forward, the show’s primary interest is playing with form.
Furthermore, the site’s Critics Consensus is much more positive. This includes reading, “Part loving homage to TV history, WandaVision is MCU small screen’s wonderfully weird and strikingly bold step – and a perfect showcase for Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and part off-kilter mystery.”
ComicBook.com‘s Brandon Davis gave a near-perfect four-and-a-half score out of five-star rating to the first three episodes of the series.
Marvel Studios best-reviewed project
Moreover, as shared by Davis, WandaVision is tremendously entertaining, weird, fun, and dark. This is enough to warrant audiences, Marvel fans or not, coming back for more.
Besides that, Brandon continued that the feeling of something larger being at play is hugely exciting and drives an insatiable desire to know more while it is all contained to this brave, bold commitment to a new format.
“How it all pays off and whether or not the fun, dark, slow burn was worth it? Well, we will have to keep watching to find out,” Davis added.
Meanwhile, WandaVision‘s first two episodes are now streaming on Disney+.
