“WandaVision” is turning out big for the fans!
Writer Jac Schaeffer talked to Marvel.com recently and spoke over the Disney Plus MCU show. In episode 5, all the fans were shocked upon witnessing Quicksilver, a.k.a., Pietro, Wanda’s brother, returning. More than that, they couldn’t believe their eyes, seeing actor Evan Peters portraying the role.
He played Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men films before Disney acquired the former in a massive 2019 deal. In Marvel Cinematic Universe, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson played Pietro Maximoff in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. But his character died in that movie itself.
And that’s why episode 5 was bonkers when it comes to expectations of WandaVision lovers.
One question remains, though: How did Peters’ appearance make a logical sense?
Answering this, writer Schaeffer told about how he managed to include this twist with some logical explanation because the makers wanted to justify Evan Peters’s appearance.
“We loved the idea [of bringing him back]. And then we were like, ‘How in the world are we going to make this make logical sense? Like how do we justify this?’”
“Because that’s the thing: You can hatch a million great ideas, but to make them land, to make them be grounded, to make them feel organic to the larger story [is more difficult].”
He also added that WandaVision is a “mind-scrambling” show because it works on multiple levels. Since there’s a lot of confusion regarding what’s real and what’s not, bringing in Evan Peters was the “biggest thrill.”
MCU projects amid a pandemic
Meanwhile, the entire MCU franchise is currently trying hard to maintain its fans’ expectations because many announced projects are scheduled to arrive in the coming months and years.
WandaVision did start the phase four line-up, but the impact of COVID-19 is still there. And due to increasing cases, it’s becoming difficult for Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios to proceed with upcoming movies and TV shows.
Films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals are currently facing a dangerous possibility of missing a traditional release. Most of the theaters are closed right now due to viruses and many recent cases. And if the situation prevails further, then it won’t be possible for Marvel to release these titles in cinema halls.
