Two of Washington’s most popular sports teams will finally get their own NFTs, which are created by two Washington locals.
These artists are Lawrence Atoigue (also known as Naturel) and Robert Generette III (Rob Zilla III), who are also rising artists in the NFT field.
Washington Wizards, of the National Basketball Association, and Washington Capitals, of the National Hockey League are the latest major teams to venture into NFT and test its potential.
Wizard’s NFT offering
The NBA has announced that the Wizards’ upcoming NFTs aim to spread awareness, educate, and create excitement among fans about the big potential of NFTs.
It added that the Washington Wizards will mint 200 NFTs which will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will be priced at $49.99 each. And with the basketball team’s large fan base, these NFTs are expected to be sold out in no time.
Wizards will also give an additional 500 NFTs, labeled “sixth man”, and the team announced that the instructions to acquire these things would soon be released.
This generous offer is part of the marketing effort to bring fans closer to non-fungible tokens and “learn” to love and appreciate them.
Capital’s NFT take
The Washington Capitals, for its part, would offer an eye-candy digital art that features two different themes.
The first NFT depicts the team’s Stanley Cup Championship. The second one explores the team’s eagle logo which became the team’s official symbol in 1995.
What’s even more exciting about this is that whoever wins these two NFTs would also receive additional (and priceless) prizes.
Two lucky winners will also receive VIP access to the team’s open practices, personalized gear, memorabilia, and autographs from team members.
