Nacan treated gamers to an intense Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood gameplay trailer to make up for news of its unfortunate delay.
Developer Cyanide and publisher Nacon announced their upcoming action-RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood back in 2017, with a release date initially set for sometime in 2020.
It seems the bloody, Lycan-themed action title will be missing that mark, however, as Nacon recently announced that the game would be moved back till next year. News of the delay broke alongside an adrenaline-fueled heavy metal gameplay trailer.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is now scheduled for a February 4, 2021 debut on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
A werewolf’s quest for redemption
After repeatedly being ravaged by a malicious cosmic entity known as the Wyrm, Gaia—Mother Earth—finds herself on the brink, fighting a losing battle against her nemesis and its servants in the Pentex corporation.
Enter Cahal, an ex-Gaia protector and werewolf formerly from the Irish Fianna Tribe. After losing himself to his rage in the past, Cahal made the difficult decision of self-exile, choosing to live a life away from those he holds dear.
The lycanthrope’s sentence of solitude was cut short, however, as news of his daughter’s disappearance prompted him to begin a long and arduous search.
Cahal eventually finds himself returning to his old tribe after learning of its peril and now fights alongside familiar faces to save Gaia while continuing the hunt for his missing child.

What to expect from Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood will be a purely single-player third-person action-RPG that follows an open-world structure filled with branching side quests.
While the gameplay trailer primarily shows off Cahal in his werewolf form, players will be able to utilize his human and wolf forms as well, each with its own set of advantages.
The werewolf form will obviously be the go-to choice for wreaking havoc and destruction upon enemies, as opposed to Cahal’s human self which will mainly be used to interact with objects and open dialogues with other beings in the game-world.
Shapeshifting into a wolf, on the other hand, will prove useful for exploration due to the increased agility, along with tracking and sneaking skills that will come in handy for a wide range of scenarios.
One of Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood’s more interesting mechanics is its rage management system. Unlike other action titles that harness the hero’s rage to their advantage, Cahal’s anger often works against him.

The main character’s rage builds up as players progress through the game, eventually overflowing into a frenzy if left unchecked.
In his frenzied state, werewolf Cahal gets a welcome power up but will have a tougher time distinguishing friend from foe. He’ll also have to clear the stage of all beings, allies and innocents included, in order to quell his anger.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood may still be a ways away, but that just gives fans the perfect excuse to brush up on the expansive lore of Werewolf: The Apocalypse in the meantime.
