CD Projekt Red has put in a ton of work and effort towards the development of its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. At the core of the shooter is a solid RPG where every choice of the player matters right from the get-go.
CD Projekt Red recently concluded its second episode of Night City Wire. During the stream, we got a look at the weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. While the weapons were pretty cool, it’s the lifepaths that kept the attention of the players throughout the stream. Here’s what this feature is about.
Lifepaths
CD Projekt Red is putting a huge emphasis on RPG elements and decisions in the game. This is to make the experience more immersive and unique to each player. From the get-go, players will make an important decision regarding their character, and this is choosing a lifepath.
There are three lifepaths to choose from, and each of these will determine how players start the game. Most importantly, it determines the direction of their character throughout the entire experience.
The three choices
One of the options is the Street Kid. The Street Kid turns the player into a hoodlum who was born and raised in the streets of Night City. Since he grew up in such a corrupted environment, he has chosen to rise against the corporates and the authorities. When picking the Street Kid as a lifepath, players will start inside Night City,
Another lifepath in Cyberpunk 2077 is the Nomad. It’s probably the polar opposite of the Night City as Nomads move from place-to-place. In the game, the Nomad’s family has gone missing, which leads him to Night City.
Last is the Corpo. The Corpo puts players in the shoes of an employee from one of the largest companies in Night City. Judging by what we know, this may be the darkest of all three options.
The developers explain that the lifepaths will still make itself known as players progress through the game. It doesn’t just dictate how players start this RPG. That being said, the addition of lifepath might also mean that the game is highly replayable.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19. The recent Night City Wire streams have showcased a lot of what the game has to offer. There might still be more streams in the future, so players should keep up-to-date with CD Projekt Red.
