The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild remains to be one of the best games in history. Now, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the sequel to the instant classic, but they’ve yet to get more details on it.
Since being revealed in E3 2019, Nintendo has been pretty quiet regarding new information on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. Although there have been a few leaks already, no exact details have been confirmed by Nintendo just yet. The lack of information isn’t stopping fans from making a few wishes for the sequel tho.
A bigger role for Zelda
Throughout the first game, Zelda was mostly a background character, and she was only seen through flashbacks. When players finally get to free her from Calamity Ganon’s clothes, it was already at the end of the game.
Fans have been hoping for at least a DLC that gave Hyrule’s princess a bigger role in the game. In the trailer for the sequel, we see Zelda finally out and about while exploring with Link. Unless she gets trapped by the antagonist again, it seems likely that Zelda will be playing more roles in the game.
It may be a bit far fetched, but fans are hoping that they will be able to switch between Zelda and Link at times. For this, the developers could take a cue from Insomniac’s Spider-Man, which allowed them to play as Miles Morales and MJ Watson during some missions.
A fresh open world
According to the leaks, the game will take place in Hyrule once again. While that sounds like an exciting venture, fans are worried that the game will feel bland, considering it’s a place they’ve already explored before.
Hopefully, the developers understand the possible issues with reusing the same map and resolve it by adding new elements. Now, it is rumored that dungeons will be back in the sequel, so this could be a great addition to Hyrule.
More story elements
For all it’s worth, the first game was an amazing title, but it did lack some story elements. Previous games in the series had a rich story but not as much in the first Breath of the Wild.
Fans want the sequel to go beyond lore and storytelling through flashbacks. More specifically, fans want something similar to previous titles like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.
As the sequel will be of a more linear approach, there’s a good chance that a deeper story will be a part of the game as well. There’s already deep lore embedded in the game, so adding a story to it might not be a challenge for the developers.
Considering the current predicament, there’s a chance that even development on the sequel has been put to a halt. While the game itself might be delayed, fans are still hoping that we get more details on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 soon.
