The Future of Gaming stream by Sony for the PlayStation 5 showcased the next lineup of titles that players should be excited for. One of the most memorable games to grace the event was Demon’s Souls.
Before the event, it had already been rumored that Demon’s Souls was going to be one of the reveals. True enough, the upcoming title was revealed with an amazing cinematic trailer. It’s one of the PS5 games revealed at the event. Here’s everything players need to know about it.
What is the game?
Released in 2009, the game is considered as the grandfather of all Souls-like games, including Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and more. The game is created by From Software and is considered to be one of the toughest games in the franchise.
However, it wasn’t this game that propelled the genre into popularity as it saw a limited release in Japan. Players from other regions, the first experience of a Souls-like game was Dark Souls. Luckily, players now have the chance to experience the title once it releases for the PlayStation 5.
Why is it a remake?
The game is essentially the one from 2009. However, it seems like the developers are going to build it from the ground up. In doing so, it becomes a remake. It’s a similar style as the one with Crash Bandicoot’s PS4 remake. Although the games are the same, the developer started from scratch instead of improving current assets.
What to expect?
Players will get to experience the legendary Demon’s Souls firsthand. As this is the first Souls-like game, players should expect rouge mechanics as well as ultra-difficult bosses in the game. As with other games after it, it will feature a battle system that relies mostly on timing and strategy.
There will be some new features as well. For starters, Sony did confirm a new mode called “Fractured Mode,” but we’ve yet to know what it is. The people working on the game also says that players will get to choose between two graphical options – one that priorities fidelity, and one that focuses more on gameplay.
Demon’s Souls is one of the highly anticipated titles of the next generation. It will be a must for those that loved Sekiro and other Souls-like games before it. The game has been considered as one of the most unforgiving and difficult of its kind, so players should expect a huge challenge.
