The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta is just around the corner. Now, Treyarch has released new information to help fans know what to expect.
Activision and Treyarch are all set to begin Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta on October 8, 2020. However, the beta won’t be available for PC until October 15. Regardless, the studio doesn’t want beta participants to just come in blind.
The studio did give a brief glimpse into the game with the short-lived alpha that ran only for a week. Now, Treyarch has released more information regarding what fans should expect when the beta arrives.
Introducing a new game mode in Black Ops Cold War beta
The Open Alpha had already introduced most of the game modes players should expect on the beta. This includes Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Combined Arms (12v12).
However, Treyarch has added two more game modes for players to enjoy. The first one will be called VIP Escort and just like what its name implies, players will be tasked to escort and protect a designated player to a spot on the map. Of course, the escort must survive which is a no-brainer in any escort mission.

The other game mode will be the Fireteam: Dirty Bomb. There is not much information to go around with this new game mode. However, the gist of it is that four teams consisting of 10 players would have to fight it out in order to obtain uranium.
Free blueprint
Activision has confirmed that players who reach level 10 in the Black Ops Cold War beta would get a free Mutual Animosity Blueprint for the Type 821. Players that manage to accomplish this will receive the blueprint when the game is released.
“Players can progress and rank up in the Beta-specific leveling system where loadout items, including new weaponry, covert spy tech through Field Upgrades, and badass Scorestreaks can be unlocked by earning XP,” Treyarch says.
Because the studio specifically mentioned level 10, many wondering if this is the level cap for the beta.

Possible maps, weapons, and equipment for the beta
Not much is known about the maps, weapons, and equipment that players will get to see in the beta. However, it is likely that the beta will also use the same ones shown in the Alpha. For the maps, these are the ones that were previously used in the Alpha: Satellite (6v6), Miami (6v6), Moscow (6v6), Armada (12v12), and Crossroads (12v12).
Other possible maps mentioned in a leak are “Black Sea,” “Cartel,” and “Tundra.” It is also possible that these names are just all code names.
When and how long will the beta run?
The studio already announced a schedule for the beta. For PS4 players that had already pre-ordered the game, they will already able to pre-load the beta. PS4 players will have early access for the beta which will run from October 8 to October 9. The Open Beta for the PS4 will run from October 10 to October 12. These are only for the first week.
For the second week, early access for PS4, Xbox One, PC will run from October 15 to October 16. Lastly, the Black Ops Cold War beta will run for all platforms beginning October 17 and ends on October 19.
