Wheel of Fortune viewers were disappointed after the game show did not mention Pat Sajak’s milestone during its 40th-anniversary episode.
On Tuesday, Pat Sajak hosted Wheel of Fortune and marked his 40th year hosting the game show. What should have been a celebration for everyone only caused the viewers to feel dismayed due to a number of reasons.
Sajak first marked the milestone on his Twitter account, saying that the December 28 episode was the 40th anniversary of his hosting stint on the NBC daytime show.
“What a week! Dec 25…Christmas Day. Dec 28…40th anniversary of my first “Wheel” on NBC daytime. Dec 31…32nd wedding anniversary. Jan 1…2022 begins. And it almost has to be better than 2021, doesn’t it? Well, doesn’t it?” he wrote.

Viewers did not know about it as the show itself did not celebrate the event or mention it at all. As a result, Sajak’s fans felt enraged and upset because the show failed to celebrate it.
One said, “WOW! Not one mention of Pat Sajak’s 40 year anniversary on last night’s Wheel of Fortune??? This is unacceptable.”
Fans celebrate it with Sajak instead
Meanwhile, most fans chose to look at the brighter side and send Sajak personal messages instead.
A fan wrote, “Mery Christmas, Happy 40th WOF anniversary! Many more to come I hope & Happy 32nd wedding anniversary. 2022 will be a better year. 2021 hit rock bottom so there is no other direction to go except up.”
“Well if it is worse, we are really in trouble! By the way, we just started teaching our 6 year old granddaughter how to create her own hand written Wheel of Fortune style puzzles, and my wife and I take turns guessing letters till we solve it!” another added.
Aside from confusing the date, Wheel of Fortune also confused viewers when a contestant flubbed his answer as he tried solving a puzzle.
Yahoo! Entertainment first reported that contestant Eric Morgan divided viewers due to a technicality when he said the words “I think, uh…” before saying “Whole Wheat Pasta.”
“Hold up!! Eric added “I think” before solving the final puzzle after Pat told him not to add anything and still won. Wth? Rules are rules, right?” one person reacted online.
Wheel of Fortune has not commented on any of these issues yet.
