Who are the Tyger Claws in ‘Cyberpunk 2077’?

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new gang to feature in its game and comes with all the racial and aesthetic stereotypes reminiscent of a certain real-life group.

Dubbed the Tyger Claws, the gang makes one of the many of Night City’s groups.

Organized Crime in Cyberpunk 2077

Featuring katanas, glittering tattoos, and street bikes, the Tyger Claws makes for a clear inspiration after the Yakuza of Japan.

Making the allusion clearer than incidental, the said gang also calls Japantown its home. Essentially, they are the Yakuzas in Cyberpunk 2077.

Seemingly versed in both martial arts and swordsmanship, fighting the gang appears to be difficult if melee. However, set in a lawless world where everything seems allowed, there is nothing that a gun could not overcome in a fight.

There are still a few things left unknown about the Tyger Claws, however. For instance, it is only rumored that the gang is linked to Cyberpunk 2077’s rich megacorporation, Arasaka.

Arasaka is a large company that specialized in not only banking, but also manufacturing and corporate security as well.

There is no yet telling how the story will unfold in relation to the gang. But the chance is good that somewhere along the way, the paths will cross between the protagonist and the mega company-backed group of misfits.

Throughout Cyberpunk 2077’s development, a handful of gangs and factions have been conceptualized. But with little information as to the background of each group, fans are left baffled as to the relation of each.

A ‘Beastly’ Gang

Worthy of note is another gang to show in the game called Animals. Displayed as people of ‘color,’ the Animals are most ostensive for their affinity towards doping and the use of ‘animal supplements.’

As the name suggests, the purpose of the said substance is to push a maximum physical condition. In the game, the status is referred to as ‘bestial condition.’

The modern rendition displayed in the game might resonate to the fans of the tabletop RPG, Cyberpunk 2013. However, such fans might see a rather clear disparity between the source and CD Projekt Red’s imagining for the game.

Some might argue that the glaring flaws from the source are not necessarily trimmed out for the remake. The issue likely arising from the developer’s failure to perceive the original material for its entirety and thereby failing to effectively separate the wheat from the chaff.

Despite the ongoing crisis caused by COVID-19, Cyberpunk 2077 is on its way for release on September 17, 2020.
