Many believe the PS5 games showcase is where Sony will finally reveal the next-gen console, but a new report begs to differ.
The world already knows every technical aspect the PS5 will have. However, people are yet to see the games that would come with it, how much it would cost, and what it would look like.
For the games, Sony has already planned a showcase this June 11, which gives fans something to look forward to. The price is still anyone’s guess, but many believe Sony will also finally unveil the next-gen console at the June 11 event.
PS5 games showcase finally happening
Sony had intended to hold a next-generation games showcase on June 7, 2020. However, after the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers and the start of massive Black Lives Matter protests, Sony had to delay the event.
Announcing the postponement on Twitter, the company explained that they would not want to celebrate while the world is in protest. The postponement set a precedent in other companies to cancel their planned events.

The protests are still happening with no end in sight. Despite this, Sony will no longer hold back in revealing the games that would come with the PS5.
The question, however, remains. Will Sony also finally unveil the highly anticipated console?
Yes and No
Public opinion is divided when it comes to Sony actually revealing the console. A lot of people believe that the PS5 is due for a much-awaited console reveal. However, many are also having doubts that Sony would do something so expected.
But what do the experts say? Gaming journalist and Forbes‘ own Paul Tassi is fairly confident that Sony would finally unveil the console to the public. However, a Twitter user begs to differ.
Twitter user IronManPS5 had been sharing a number of PS5-related information in the last couple of months. Now, the user claims that Sony will not unveil the PS5 console this June 11. Instead, they would do so at a different date, specifically July 7, 2020.

Furthermore, the Twitter user claims that Sony would follow the same pattern that they used with the PS4 back in 2013. That is, they would schedule a number of separate events with each revealing important next-gen console news.
There’s a reason why the final design of PlayStation 5 will be officially unveiled on July 7. It’s so obvious it’s not even funny but the public haven’t realised it yet and still won’t realise it unless they’re told. I’ll go over it another time pic.twitter.com/FfvD8LcgvE

Now, these are big claims and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, with the PS5 slated for a Christmas 2020 release, Sony may not have much time to prepare and conduct these events.
Microsoft did the same with the Xbox Series X. However, they did so back in December last year.
The PS5 Future of Gaming all-digital event will start at 1 PM PST.
