Willy Wonka prequel will soon unveil what happened before the establishment of the chocolate factory. In order to do that, Warner Bros. shall hire someone worthy of the role.
Years after Roald Dahl’s popular children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory conquered the world, the film will finally receive another adaptation.
This time it will be about the earlier years before Charlie won the golden ticket.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is ironing their plans for a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel, currently titled Wonka.
For nearly five years, the media company has been developing the new Willy Wonka movie.
It has also been publicly known that the prequel will follow Willy’s story before he became the King of Candy.
Although they already set it for a release on Mar. 17, 2023, Warner Bros. is yet to find the best actor to portray the role.
However, there have been rumors that either Marvel actor Tom Holland or Timothee Chalamet will score the role.
Who will paly the role of Willy Wonka?
In 2018, Collider reported that Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover, and Ezra Miller were the studio’s first set of choices to star in the film.
But over the years, their names seemed to have been set aside.
Recently, multiple news outlets revealed that Warner Bros. set its eyes upon Tom or Timothee to play the role of the eccentric confectioner.
The best actor for the role will still depend on what version the company will follow. The 24-year-old Spider-Man actor is ideal to be the young version of Gene Wilder. Timothee, for his part, is fit to be Johnny Depp‘s younger version.
Meanwhile, the people who will work behind the camera include David Heyman (producer) and Simon Rich (scriptwriter).
Paddington director Paul King will spearhead the reboot.
“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Story
Roald Dahl’s book follows the story of a poor boy named Charlie. He is one of five children to win a golden ticket that allows them to have a tour to the world-renowned yet highly mysterious chocolate factory by Willy.
In 1971, Wilder starred in the renowned Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Depp later scored the role in the Tim Burton-directed 2005 reboot, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Burton’s version was more successful, though, as it grossed over $475 million at the worldwide box office.
