Warner Bros has now officially confirmed that Wonder Woman 1984 is coming in December. And then it will arrive on HBO Max also!

The big reveal came out early on Thursday via the makers’ press release. And director Patty Jenkins herself tweeted it on her account:
“At some point, you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give over everything else. We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season.”

I can't wait for the world to see this amazing woman on the screen. One of the most anticipated movies from DC, the Patty Jenkins directorial, has witnessed a delay of around a year. It was originally scheduled for November 2019. But then Warner Bros decided to move it towards a summer release this year. However, the pandemic effect turned out horrible for the entertainment industry. And then the changes in dates went even further.
Speaking of the current scenario, the latest announcement means that Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in select international theaters. It will arrive on Dec. 16 in some of the locations across the globe. Then it will also be available on HBO Max, at no additional cost for the users. It will stay on the streaming service for one month, starting Dec. 25.
This new change and decision seem the best way possible for Warner Bros to keep a theatrical option also. Because COVID-19 has made sure that no movie comes out traditionally. Only a very few places in the world are playing new flicks in cinema halls. It includes China and Japan, and some other countries.
Impact of COVID-19 on anticipated films
This year has caused a huge loss to both the filmmakers and moviegoers. It’s been a crisis like no other, and everyone’s felt it across the world. Fans have waited for a big list of highly-awaited projects since the beginning of 2020. But it was doomed to turn into a disaster.
Films like Black Widow, No Time To Die, Eternals, Dune, Mulan, Tenet, and Wonder Woman 1984 deserved proper theatrical welcome. However, COVID-19 not only delayed many of these but forced them to go on a streaming path. While some turned out good in reception, others suffered greatly because of limited and empty cinema hall screenings, even where it was allowed.
