‘Wonder Woman 1984’ movie brings ‘Aquaman’ to the spotlight

'Wonder Woman 1984': 'Aquaman' scheduled to appear?

Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot may just have teased an Aquaman cameo in the upcoming film.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa could make an appearance in Wonder Woman 1984. With the Wonder Woman sequel delayed, Warner Bros. Pictures reportedly wants to bring in Momoa for a few scenes.

An appearance from Aquaman would be a great hook for comic book fans. After all, the first Aquaman movie earned almost US$1.15 billion in the box office. Momoa could help the sequel surpass its 2017 predecessor in box office earnings.

It can be recalled that both Gadot and Momoa already starred together in 2017’s Justice League. If the reports are true, the Wonder Woman sequel would serve as a reunion for the two actors.

Gal Gadot teases Aquaman appearance

Gal Gadot seemed to confirm the reports in an interview. She dropped the clue when she was asked to describe how different Diana will be in the sequel.

She was very naive and she didn’t understand the complexities of life. A fish out of water. In this movie, that’s not the case whatsoever. Diana has evolved. She’s much more mature and very wise.

The line “a fish out of water” seems to be a deliberate attempt from the actress to inform fans. It remains to be seen if what she indicated in the interview will ultimately come true.

Warner Bros Pictures delays Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984 is among the films affected by the closing of movie theaters all over the world.

Warner Bros Pictures originally set out to release the DC Extended Universe flick on Friday, June 5. But because of theater closures, the Wonder Woman sequel will instead bow on Friday, August 14.

Gal Gadot slammed for Imagine singalong

Meanwhile, controversy found its way to Gal Gadot recently. She wanted to uplift people’s spirits while in quarantine so she started a singalong video to John Lennon’s Imagine. She then got celebrities like Kristen Wiig, Zoe Kravitz, and Natalie Portman to join her in the clip.

However, the video got mixed responses online. People said that the celebrities in the video should have donated money instead.

One of the celebrities who participated in the video, Jamie Dornan, recently spoke out about the experience. In a recent interview, he said that he understood the backlash that the video received. But he also defended Gadot, who he said was only trying to be “good and kind.”

Other upcoming films in DC Extended Universe

Wonder Woman 1984 leads a crowded set of films for release in the DC Extended Universe franchise. While The Suicide Squad and The Batman will directly follow the Wonder Woman sequel. Warner Bros. also scheduled two other sequels, Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2 for 2022.
