Moving to another revolutionary debut
Several theater chains and distributors are not buying the idea of moving some tentpole releases to stream. However, CEO and President Adam Aron of AMC positively consider the WW84 news.
Aron revealed his excitement on Wednesday, stating that he is excited about the new deal. He revealed that the decision would allow WW84 to play in nearly 1,000 of the chain’s locations worldwide.
AMC’s statement said that the movie fans across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East would be excited.
This is about learning that the release of Wonder Woman 1984 this holiday season is right around the corner.
Aron continued that, “AMC, across our global network, will show this eagerly awaited movie on our big screens.”
Aron added that AMC believes that consumers, filmmakers, studios, and exhibitors will benefit from the exclusive theatrical releases.
A side-thought for the Christmas release
Previously, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar argued with the plan of the film. He said that the film could provide a communal experience across an unpredictable holiday season. With this statement, Aron also thought of a possibility on this.
He said that the expectations adjusted due to COVID-19 as they will pay attention to theatrical revenues. They will be paying close attention to the numbers of families and fans diving into HBO Max.
Aron continued to anticipate that a portion of fans will choose to enjoy Wonder Woman 1984 that way. And this could happen on the movie’s opening day and beyond.
