Overwatch pro league loses another world champion as Sinatraa retires from its professional scene, and joins in Sentinels’ Valorant team.
The biggest names in eSports pro league continue to jump in and follow the uprising trend of Riot Games’ Valorant. Today’s recent catch is Overwatch 2019 world champion Jay “Sinatraa” Won.
Sinatra is currently the reigning MVP of the Overwatch League and the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals.
He also led the USA team to victory in the Overwatch World Cup, where he was also crowned as the MVP.
Sinatra has been with San Franciso Shock since 2017— the only team he competed with in the Overwatch League. Accordingly, Sinatraa’s last game with the OW pro team was last month against the Los Angeles Valiant.
Reason for leaving OW pro league
According to the 20-year-old eSport world champ, the reason behind his exit from the Overwatch professional scene is the loss of passion.
As the news of his jumping-ship overflows, he felt the need to officially “write up a TwitLonger” post, like all the other pro players who announced their recent exit from their respective professional scenes.
An excerpt from Sintraa’s TwitLonger post reads:
straight up just lost passion for the game. idk what the real killer was for me but maybe it was 2-2-2 lock maybe it was bans im not sure… i just know it was hard for me to log on to play and i didnt have fun in scrims/ranked at all anymore. i did not make this decision in 1 day it took a full month of non stop thinking every day and sleepless nights from being so stressed.
He then continues to thank the Overwatch League, San Francisco Shock, and his beloved teammates. The statement given by Sinatra’s former team to ESPN was limited to expressing their gratitude towards Sinatraa for bringing in great gameplay and valuing the influence he brought to their community.
Followed by admitting that Sinatraa will be missed, but they still wish him the best for his next endeavors.
He came, he saw and he conquered.
Thank you and best of luck in your future endeavors @Sinatraa🧡 pic.twitter.com/XCyWSzN4UV

Sentinels bags another world champion
Sentinels issued a press release announcing the formation of their very own Valorant pro team, led by Sinatraa himself.
Also joining the team are Jared “Zombs” Gitlin, Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, and Hunter “SicK” Mims.
Accordingly, Zombs is a well-known Sentinels Apex Legends player. He’s been a top finisher in many of the team’s major tournaments.
ShahZaM and SicK, on the other hand, are both pro players from the Counter-Strike scene. They are known for topping most of their tournaments since the start of their respective careers in 2014.
Time to write the next chapter.
We are excited to announce details about our Valorant team consisting of @sinatraa, @ShahZaMk, @zombs and @SicK_cs.

Rob Moore, the Sentinels founder, said in a statement:
Our goals as an organization are to connect our fans to the biggest, most exciting games in esports, and to recruit championship caliber teams as we have in other games like Fortnite and Halo. Signing on Sinatraa, ShaZaM, and SicK to join our organization further cements Sentinels as a home for world class players and teams.
Now, the newly formed Valorant pro team is still looking for a fifth member. The eSports community surely sits on the edges of their seats as they await the next world champ to be recruited.
Riot Games is yet to officially release Valorant to the mass public. Right now, it is still running on a closed beta version, with only a few pro players and famous streamers have access to.
Although, they’ve been working with Twitch and selected content creators to give out closed beta keys to its avid followers.
Right now, as Micky News previously reported, the League of Legends maker has no immediate plans to hosting league tournaments similar to LoL. Instead, they’ve been working with third party events hosts such as 100 Thieves, T1, and ESPN.
