Starting today until Nov. 23, players can participate in a 21-day long celebration, which can be done as easily as logging into the game. By simply choosing to log their accounts, active WoW players could receive gifts from the game itself.
Players who would do so can expect to claim a 16th Anniversary Achievement and an Anniversary Gift Package.
The former is a once-in-a-lifetime reward for being an active member of the game’s 16 years in business—something which many would consider a trophy.
On the other hand, the latter contains 200 Timewarped Badges that players can use as currency from special anniversary vendors. Besides, it also contains a special anniversary item that augments XP and reputation gains by 16 percent.
Those who find the provisioned unique currency lacking can earn more by doing daily quests. Players may be able to do so in one of two ways—by answering trivia questions or killing an old boss. As for the latter, this will include Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, and one of the four Dragons of Nightmare, each of which with some slightly revamped abilities.
Furthermore, new quests are also making a debut with the game. Drawing from the “Letters of the Timewalkers,” these will task players into venturing in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. The destination varies specifically according to the player’s faction.
Consequently, killing the bosses will reward 30 or so Timewarped Badges per kill. However, the quest requires the player to be at least level 30 in order to join.
Players who are into PVP will also have something to look forward to as part of the event. In particular, the re-implementation of the Korrak’s Revenge, which will grant participants EXP as well as two new mounts. Anyone who is eager to add to their collection of mounts could expect to get the Alliances Stormpike Battle Ram or the Horde’s Frostwolf Snarler by participating in it.
But it is not just the Alterac Valley Battleground that’s returning. Making for another surprising comeback is the Caverns of Time Party, which comes with its outlandish rendition of the Khadgar-ball Soccer.
To those into cosmetics, the reappearance of the anniversary vendor should make for a pleasant comeback.
