‘WoW: Shadowlands’ feels ‘completely different’ for Shroud; Here’s why

The popular Twitch streamer believes that the game has become less immersive but still thinks Shadowlands provides the best time for new players to jump into the game.

World of Warcraft launched its eighth expansion, titled Shadowlands, on November 23. With just a few days into the latest expansion, players are now grinding heavily on the game’s new content. And Shroud, as a loyal World of Warcraft player, is also getting in on the fun.

Amidst all the fun new changes happening on Shadowlands, Shroud has provided his no-nonsense opinion regarding the state World of Warcraft is in.

WoW: Shadowlands and its less immersive experience

Shroud has explicitly declared his unabashed love for World of Warcraft. But that doesn’t mean he’s not open to criticizing the game when needed. In fact, his love for the game goes on so much that he is willing to lose followers just to play it.

But recently, the Twitch star has noticed many changes when it comes to the overall feeling of the game. According to the former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro, World of Warcraft has become less immersive.

“I feel like [MMORPG’s] and WoW, in general, have transcended into something completely different. In the past, you [played] because you were immersed. You were leveling up your character. You were getting new items. It felt good to be more powerful and do better things.” Shroud explains. “Now I feel like WoW is like play with friends and kill some shit. That feeling of immersion and truly having an impact on the world and your character feeling there has kind of nullified.”

Shroud says he first started playing the game in 2005 when he was 11-years-old. According to him, playing the game at the time had felt amazing, that he was in his own world. But now, as the current game stands, it no longer brings him the same feeling.

And it’s not just Shroud whose feeling a bit lost with World of Warcraft in recent times.

An exciting new realm and story

But many others also continue to play the game for its story and lore. World of Warcraft does have expansive and diverse lore. Many would even argue that they only continued playing because of the game’s story.

Of course, story-wise, World of Warcraft has had a few misses. But now, players are definitely hyped for the new story. It also helps that Blizzard has added a new realm and many new regions for players to explore.

As many would remember, the end of Battle for Azeroth saw Sylvanas destroying the helm of domination. This act became the catalyst for the destruction of the veil that separates the land of the living and the dead. And now, players are able to explore the land of the departed, the Shadowlands and all of its new regions: Ardenweald, Bastion, Maldraxxus, Revendreth, and The Maw.
