WWDC 2020 was an all-software showcase that centered on the enhanced user interaction with the sleek designs of the operating systems.
WWDC 2020 will go down as one of the biggest events in Apple’s history. Not only did they kick off the event online, but they also announced the company’s processor shift after several years.
Apple not using Intel is a huge blow to the latter’s business. However, the Cupertino-based company deemed that this is the right time for Apple to make its own chips. Apple Silicon took the longest airtime during the keynote.
Unfortunately, its announcement also marked the end of the keynote that left viewers hanging without any hardware device release. Below are Apple techs that were most anticipated during WWDC 2020.
iPhone 12 series
Rumors surrounding the iPhone 12 was plenty prior to WWDC 2020. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be until September till iPhone enthusiasts will get their hands on the actual phones.
The newest line up of the iPhone 12 will be stacked. It will have the models of iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, earlier leaks show that there will be an outlier in the iPhone 12 as a ‘mini version’.
The size of the actual mini phone is still not yet confirmed. Be that as it may, it may follow the size of a previous iPhone model. All phones will also be 5G capable to keep up with the recent releases of 5G phones from their Android competitors.
Refreshed iPads
Rumors were plenty earlier during the year about the new iPad, iPad mini, and iPad Air. Unfortunately, there was no announcement about any of those mentioned. Nonetheless, WWDC 2020 showcased only a small update on the iPadOS 14.
The Control Center of the iPad will now be able to support the widgets that the iOS 14 and the and MacOS also have. The Apple Pencil scribble feature is also a big upgrade announced during the keynote.
The entry-level iPad and iPad mini are set to get their refresh by September. Both devices are expected to showcase the newest mini-LED display for the screen. However, no other significant upgrade is expected.
The iPad Air, on the other hand, is expected to get a facelift similar to the iPad Pro. It is also speculated to finally switch over a USB-C port instead of Apple’s Lightning port. Similar to the iPad and the iPad mini, the iPad Air will also most likely use the mini-LED screen.
