The WWE Superstars John Cena, Kofi Kingston, The Rock, The Undertaker, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch are making an unusual entry into The King of Fighters ALLSTAR.
Players who would choose to play the mobile game until June 3 have the chance to encounter different iterations of two characters—Kofi Kingston and The Rock.
Coinciding the debut of the wrestlers are WWE-themed events aimed at amplifying the new roster’s introduction to the brawl.

Unlike the rest of the WWE Superstars, both The Rock and Kofi are not unlocked from the get-go. Though they are easily enabled with just a bit of immersion to the game’s updated contents. Particularly, by meeting conditions such as finishing a certain gameplay mode or being at a specific location in-game.
Players who would want to play as The Rock would want to finish the ‘Time Attack Mode.’ A gameplay mode that pits three of the available wrestlers against three bosses in a row. To complete the quest, all three bosses must be defeated consecutively.
To unlock Kofi Kingston, players must visit a certain WWE-themed mini-dungeon and the rush dungeon where the wrestler is hidden.
The King of Fighters ALLSTAR in Retrospect
The King of Fighters is a trademarked game by the Japanese game company, SNK. It debuted on iOS and Android on July 26, 2018, initially in Japan. It reached the South Korean market on May 9, 2019, and the rest of the world on October 22, 2019.
Since its release in 2018, the game has seen limited crossovers with other franchises and companies. These collaborations led to the appearances of popular figures from Gin Tama (2018), Samurai Shodown (2019), Tekken (2019), and WWE (2020).
Despite being owned by a Japanese company, ALLSTARS is handled by South Korea’s Netmarble through a partnership with SNK. Netmarble is South Korea’s second biggest mobile game developer, trailing only behind NCsoft.
As a game based on The King of Fighters franchise, it brings together all of the franchise’s established characters. Ranging from the first The King of Fighters game up to the latest iteration of the series with The King of Fighters XIV.
While faithful to the series’ fighters, Netmarble had a hand at recreating everyone’s idiosyncrasies, giving the game a unique flair. Players can expect the game to present a little differently despite being familiar arising from the re-touch.
The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is a free-to-play title and can be downloaded via either Google Play or the App Store.
