As per Microsoft’s official report, shared recently, the growth of subscribers for its Xbox Game Pass has been slow in this calendar year.
Microsoft revealed that Xbox Game Pass had gained momentum in subscriber count, but in a gradual manner. Simply put, it didn’t meet the previously set expectations for 2021.
Xbox Game Pass witnessing a slow growth
There’s no doubt that Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription offers fantastic value for the players who are die-hard gamers. There are three varieties to choose from — PC only, console only, or both.
Players get access to a library of over 100 games, and most of them are offered for the launch day itself. Such value has led even PlayStation users to ask Sony to combine PS Plus and PS Now into something like the one that Microsoft’s service offers.
If you have to spot a con, then it’s perhaps the fact that the Game Pass offers a huge amount of titles. And that leads to many users not trying all of them due to time limitations.
It’s simply because you can’t do only gaming for 24 hours each day throughout the week.
Last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella mentioned that there were about 100 million Xbox Live users in the world. In addition to that, Xbox Game Pass also witnessed huge subscriber growth.
Rumors indicated that the service reached around 30 million global subscribers. However, Microsoft’s actual numbers, in January this year, showed “more than 18 million.”
That’s still a positive growth for such a service that was launched just four years ago. Usually, most gamers tend to convert their Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, or they sign up for the very first time.
Despite this, the Game Pass seems to be falling below the expectations of Microsoft itself. It had more hopes for the service for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2021. Instead of its expected 47.79% growth target, the service only grew by 37.48%.
New Xbox titles in 2021
As Microsoft is trying to up its game for Xbox Game Pass, gaming lovers will receive many new titles for its console. This year will offer tons of Xbox launches for all the die-hard gamers.
Some of the most-awaited Xbox games coming in the next two months are Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite itself. While the former will be the newest entry in its racing series, the latter is one of the most anticipated releases of 2021.
Xbox Game Pass owners will have a blessed time when it comes to these two above-mentioned games. Because they will get extra launch day perks from the makers of these potential blockbusters.
