The most successful anime film of all time, Your Name, is returning to the big screens in a live action remake.
Anime movies are a common source of entertainment for many individuals. This entertainment genre transcends its target audience of young children. At the same time, older viewers find it entertaining. Therefore, it is not surprising that this type of film has widely dominated the film industry.
One of the most well-known anime films present today is Your Name, developed under the eye of Makoto Shinkai. The movie has grossed more than $326 million worldwide, making it the most successful anime film of all time. It even undermined Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away from 2001.
Toho and Paramount partners to produce Your Name’s live-action remake
The success of Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name has paved the way for a live-action remake. Toho and Paramount have partnered to produce a reimagined version of the 2016 animated romantic fantasy drama film, which has become a Japanese classic. Toho will handle Japanese film distribution. Meanwhile, Paramount will release the movie in all other territories.
Marc Webb who is famous for helming 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider Man is set to direct the forthcoming title. Moreover, J.J. Abrams will produce along with Genki Kawamura, the showrunner of the original film.

Showrunner’s take on the upcoming film
Genki Kawamura has recently shared his insights regarding the upcoming live-action remake.The showrunner has shared that Marc Webb was their first choice to direct the refashioned interpretation of the film.
He then acknowledged the director’s tremendous talent of telling great love stories, a similar way which captivated moviegoers from the original film. Furthermore, Kawamura assured that Webb will engage an entirely new audience for the characters’ beautiful journey.
He further stated,
“With J.J. Abrams producing, Eric Heisserer writing and Marc directing, this project officially has the team we dreamed about.”
Your Name live-action film: plot, release date and trailer
The story of the remake revolves around a Native American girl living in a rural area and a boy situated in Chicago. Everything changed as the two discovered that they swapped bodies due to a magical connection. With this at hand, they must figure out a way to return to their normal selves and prevent a catastrophe from happening.
Since the film will feature an all-American cast, it is certain that the live-action movie will not be filmed in Japan. Nevertheless, it is still a title worth looking forward to. As of press time, no premiere schedule has been officially announced for the forthcoming film. The same goes for the trailer.
