Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known as “PewDiePie,” warns gamers about Sony’s notable omission of the PlayStation 5’s price point during its grand reveal.
Conjecture about the upcoming PlayStation 5’s (PS5) price tag has been running wild after tech giant Sony suspiciously left out details regarding their console’s cost following its grand design reveal earlier this month.
Renowned Youtube celebrity PewDiePie threw in his two cents’ worth about the topic during one of his recent videos, cautioning gamers about Sony’s decision to withhold the PS5’s price.

Felix’s hot take
During PewDiePie’s video titled “New PS5 Console Design is WILD,” the famous YouTuber mocked Sony for dropping a ton of new info about their next-gen console, then conveniently cutting the presentation short when it came to money matters.
“When they announced the PlayStation 4, the price was amazing and they were so proud of it,” said Felix about the PS4 reveal back in 2013. “So, the fact that they haven’t announced a price is not good news.”
The YouTuber’s argument does some hold water since the PS4’s price point was one of the console’s highlights and Sony couldn’t wait to reveal it to the world. That being said, the absence of that information for the PlayStation 5 could be hinting at a hefty price tag.

PewDiePie is not a fan of the PS5’s design
While many gamers have been raving about the PlayStation 5’s futuristic black and white design, Felix has made it clear that he’s not a fan. In fact, he went as far as saying that most of the fan mock-ups look better than the end product.
PewDiePie went on to give props to Microsoft, believing that they won the design battle between the next-gen consoles.
The internet sensation did give Sony the benefit of the doubt, mentioning that the console could look better in the flesh. Though he also continued by saying, “I don’t wanna be that guy, but even before I saw anyone’s reaction to it, I was like, that looks really ugly.”
According to Felix, his concept for the PS5 would have been a retro theme that revolved around the first PlayStation console, which some gamers thought would be the case.

Sony has yet to reveal the PlayStation 5’s price, though most analysts have predicated that it would land in the US$499 [AU$749] range.
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan did mention, however, that the company is emphasizing “value as opposed to price,” which could lend some credibility to PewDiePie’s concerns. Fans will just have to wait for Sony’s official price reveal to know the truth.
