Zack Snyder cannot stop fanboying over his favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes although he is working for DC Entertainment.
Zack Snyder confessed that, although he gives life to Justice League superheroes, he also has favorite Marvel superheroes.
The superhero universes MCU and DCEU breathed life to the characters from the comics. Although they serve as two different franchises, Snyder admitted that he also sets his eyes on two Marvel characters.
The award-winning Justice League filmmaker appeared on Wired to promote his upcoming flick Army of the Dead on Netflix. During the conversation, he revealed that he both likes Marvel comics and movies.
Who is Zack Snyder’s Favorite?
As a fanboy, the Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director went on to claim that he likes Hulk and Iron Man.
Despite that, he pledged not to copy Kevin Feige’s tactics in telling superhero stories. Although he has been a fan of the franchise, he disclosed that his talent does not complement MCU’s popular action-comedy with a heart.
In addition, Snyder explained that if he tries to copy the format, his version would also fail since Marvel Studios is already doing well.
He does not have plans on working for Marvel because of these reasons. Still, he revealed that he would join the franchise if he had the chance (via u/Task_Force-191).
Snyder previously praised Marvel
Aside from speaking the truth about his favorites, Snyder once praised Marvel Studios’ ways of expanding its universe successfully.
In an interview with The New York Times, the director received a question about whether MCU affects his DC movies. Per Snyder, the studios does the job excellently in their own way.
“They’re doing, at the highest level, this popular action-comedy with a heart. And they have that nailed. An effort to duplicate that is insanity because they’re so good at it,” he said. “What DC had was mythology at an epic level, and we were going to take them on this amazing journey.”
He added that he does not have plans on making more movies like how Marvel Studios expanded the universe. So, if he does that, he would face a slippery slope in his directorial career.
After all, Snyder believes that imitation is not a helpful form of flattery especially when he knows they could not match their rival universe.
As of the writing, the director already served DCEU for the last time through Justice League: Snyder Cut.
