Zendaya received her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in July.
Zendaya turned 24 on the first of the month. While her birthday is indeed an event to celebrate, reports said that September is also an important month for the actress.
Cheat Sheet stated that she might break a huge record before the month ends. Thanks to her lead role on HBO’s Euphoria, she obtained her first-ever Emmy nomination. The culmination of the 72nd Emmy Awards will air on September 21.
Zendaya and her first Emmy nomination
In July, the Television Academy released the list of this year’s nominees for the Emmy Awards. Zendaya is among the six actresses who bagged a nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Jennifer Aniston, Jodie Comer, Sandra Oh, Laura Linney, and Olivia Colman are her contenders for the award.
The Spider-Man actress received the nomination for her role on HBO’s Euphoria. Based on data, they submitted her stint on the show’s third episode titled, Made You Look.
She plays Rue Bennett on the series. Reports said that she is a teenager who returns to high school following her rehabilitation period due to drug addiction.

If she wins the award
The same publication reported that if Zendaya wins the Emmy Award this September, it will become a huge moment for her and the whole industry. As noted, the Greatest Showman actress is only 24 years old. So, if she takes the award home, she will, reportedly, become the youngest actress to have an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
In the history of Emmy’s, reports said that only a few young actors and actresses won an award. Regardless, though, there were a few of them who got nominations in the past. Some of them include Millie Bobby Brown and Asante Blackk for their stints on Stranger Things and When They See Us, respectively.
To date, the youngest Emmy awardee for the same category as Zendaya’s is Jodie Comer. Punch Ng reported that she won the award at the age of 26 in 2019. She is also one of the Euphoria star’s contenders for the same award this year.
Fans excitement after “Golden Globes” upset
Several fans and supporters rejoiced after learning about Zendaya’s nomination for her role in Euphoria. This comes after the huge disappointment and upset of the fandom following the Golden Globes alleged “snub” toward the actress.

In December 2019, the list of nominations went public. However, Zendaya was not on it, which caused netizens to criticize the association. Despite the huge upset among fans, some individuals argued that the actress’s performance was not that “revolutionary.” So, the Emmy nomination became a sweet treat for the fans, not only for Zendaya.
