The drama series, The Lincoln Lawyer, might soon land on Netflix after being canceled this year on its home network, CBS. Reportedly, Netflix is stepping in to rescue the series.
The series is based on the Michael Connelly novels and is the 16th book from the renowned writer. Although The Lincoln Lawyer was adapted into a movie in 2011, the title also landed a big commitment from CBS.
Back in June last year, CBS brought on board the creator of the highly acclaimed Big Little Lies and Mr. Mercedes, David E. Kelly, to work on the project. However, just early this year, CBS confirmed that it would drop the series. Furthermore, both A+E Studios and CBS TV Studios developed the series. With the news of its cancellation on CBS, other streamers and networks have shown interest in adopting the series, including Amazon. The network has also worked with Connelly for its Bosch series, which is now in its sixth season.
Netflix is reportedly stepping in
After being canceled on CBS, Netflix is, reportedly, rescuing the series. Although there are already speculations surrounding the streaming platform on closing the deal, there’s no final word yet. Netflix has yet to announced the confirmation.

The reason for the speculation may have pointed to the recent streaming of movie adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer. The movie was initially released on May 27, 2020, and still currently available on US Netflix. Besides, the film starred Matthew McConaughey, who is also famous in his role as a lawyer in A Time to Kill, playing alongside Sandra Bullock.
What is “The Lincoln Lawyer” all about
In the movie, the plot revolves around a lawyer, Mickey Haller, who takes on big and small cases all across Los Angeles. Haller runs his law practice at the back of his Lincoln town car. While his cases are much connected to drug dealers and gangsters, the plot emphasizes on an important case involving a wealthy realtor. Realtor Louis Roulet is being accused of assault and murder, and initially presented as the victim.
However, as the story progresses, pieces of evidence against him pile up and change Haller’s original case theory.

“The Lincoln Lawyer” series stars Logan Marshall-Green
In a report published by Deadline early in May, the series will have 13 episodes for its pilot season. Aside from that, the series takes Logan Marshall-Green as the lead star, which also underwent a complex deal with CBS, taking two weeks to close the negotiation finally.
