Breaking Bad may be a fictional TV series, but some real-world stories inspire a lot of it. And now the show is going to give fans an in-depth look into it with a docu-series.
It’s almost seven years already since Breaking Bad ended in 2013. And yet, it remains to be a hit show, especially after it was made available for streaming on Netflix.
It also helped that AMC released a spin-off series titled Better Call Saul, which is said to be even better than its mother series. And the latest in the franchise is the semi-sequel film, El Camino, that was released last year.
It seems like that there’s just so much to explore with the neo-Western crime drama series created and produced by Vince Gilligan.
But as mentioned earlier, a lot of the scenes from the series came from real-life happenings, and AMC wants to talk more about it.

The upcoming docu-series
As revealed in the network’s website, they are set to release a new digital docu-series called The Broken and the Bad.
“This short-form docu-series is inspired by the most memorable characters, situations and themes of the Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad universe.”
Reports also reveal that Giancarlo Esposito will host the upcoming documentary. Anyone who has watched the series knows that Esposito played as the terrifying drug lord and owner of chicken restaurant Gus Fring.
Moreover, it is said that it will also cover real-life events that “loosely” inspired some of story-arcs, plot lines and characters. Popular moments from the show will be compared to real-life incidents.
This means that it will take a deeper look into the economics of large-scale drug operations, just like that of Walter White/Heisenberg’s (portrayed by Bryan Cranston).
There’s also a rundown on the psychology behind con artists, hitmen, dealers, and other aspects of crime, including that of the production and distribution of illegal narcotics.
Early teasers also show that there’s going to be an entire episode dedicated to Electromagnetic Sensitivity. They are going to feature a small American town where those suffering from the condition can live in peace with little to no electricity around.
The psychological illness is included in the earlier seasons of Better Call Saul. And it’s believed that they experience discomfort from the electromagnetic fields coming from cellphones, televisions, and WiFi routers.
Release date
The Breaking Bad documentary is set to drop on Thursday, July 9, on AMC. However, it is only going to be available in the U.S. There is no word yet on when and where it will be watched for those from outside of the country.
