‘Shang-Chi’ is killing it at the box office!
Released on September 3, the MCU film shattered expectations within days of its arrival in theaters. It not only grossed huge collections but with record margins.
Shang-Chi made over $140 million worldwide in its opening weekend. In the United States, it made around $72 million in the period between Friday and Monday, September 3 through September 6.
Thanks to Labor Day, the film collected over $100 million in the US and Canada. It’s really commendable given that the pandemic is still there and theaters are operating with limited capacity.
But the craze among the fans is such that they are going out to watch the latest MCU offering in large numbers.
Specifically speaking, Shang-Chi earned an estimated $101.29 million in five days of release, according to Box Office Mojo.
Overall, the movie is now over a total of $160 million worldwide.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have Simu Liu as the first Asian superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Actress Awkwafina is portraying the role opposite him.
Apart from them, other important cast members are Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, and Meng’ er Zhang.
The movie is currently playing in over 4,300 theaters in the US domestic markets, as of this writing.
